“It Stays With Us”
YEARS AFTER HIS MOTHER’S DEATH, 15 YEAR OLD RICKY STRUGGLES TO ACCEPT THE LOSS. HIS MACHISMO WORLD HAS KEPT HIM FROM THE IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS IN HIS LIFE, INCLUDING LOSING TOUCH WITH HIMSELF. WHILE HIS FATHER ATTEMPTS TO MAKE A CONNECTION WITH RICKY, IT'S HIS CLOSE FRIEND WHO'S ABLE TO BREAKTHROUGH.
Machismo robs many of us of the freedom we're invited to find in grief. While many of us may intellectually assent to the idea of our sadness and grief, we often fail to fully step into the reality of our less pleasant emotions. This film hopes to show that grief, both the tangible and intangible kind, is not something we "move on from", but rather something that stays with us.
