It's Not Show Friends, It's Show Business
Brought up on a working-class housing estate in Glasgow, the second son of a single parent working three jobs to keep her family fed, clothed and with a roof over their heads, Scott learned early on how to be independent and always knew he would have to work hard for success. In the book Scott tells his real life ‘rags to riches’ story, revealing his formula for success and the struggles he faced making a career for himself in the entertainment industry. Scott shares stories about receiving a phone call from Billy Connolly, a drunken night out in Dublin with Kevin Bridges and of course tea with the Queen and Susan Boyle. This is an open and honest account of this amazing and inspiring success story proving that It’s Not Where You Start… This is the first chapter in Scott’s story as he prepares to release his first book. 'It's Not Show Friends, It's Show Business' is a unique and interesting script written by Scott Kyle. It's essentially the first chapter of his book 'It's Not Where You Start' and this is not something you typically would be challenged with to make into an animated film - an audiobook. Yet, it was an extremely rewarding process as it came to fruition and a whole lot of fun for the team involved! The feeling we aimed for was an almost ethereal, very atmospheric drama with strong motifs. The animation is very much secondary to the spoken-word story from Kyle's own life, voiced by himself. Yet, it illustrates and enhances the story, adding new layers visually woven nicely together with the wonderful soundscape by the multi-instrumentalist composer Chris James Marr. Overall, it has been an interesting, challenging, and enjoyable project that we can't wait to share with audiences and judges (hopefully with even more intriguing chapters of the story to come!)
