Filmmaker Statement

Jardins was born out of contemplation of family and meaning-making. With the imagery of floristry, we sought to illustrate the search for healing through a visual, meditative process of creation. The main characters of the film, Roseline and Mami, are both answering voids left in the wake of unspoken trauma. Upon this encounter, we see Roseline faced with the task of creating a floral arrangement from the artifact of a painting. As the creative labor of her floristry work unfolds, we see her bear the fruit.
