Filmmaker Statement

In a world filled with stories of success, Jenga shifts the focus to the often-unspoken struggles and failures that shape our lives. The film uses a Jenga tower as a metaphor for life’s uncertainties, while the other character—the lip being—embodies our collective journey through these challenges. It delivers a powerful message about mental health, urging us to talk openly and seek help before it’s too late. Visually, I aimed for an experimental, abstract style that’s both memorable and impactful. To convey the raw, uncomfortable nature of stress, I used various textures and contrasting colors. The Jenga tower isn’t just a plain structure—it’s a metaphor for life’s uncertainties, with each block textured to represent a different emotion: scribbles for confusion, thorns for anxiety, empty blocks for feeling lost, and more. To balance this, I kept the character solid black with a pink highlight, allowing it to merge with the background while still standing out. For the second part of
