Filmmaker Statement

I wrote this screenplay about a young woman on her way to get an abortion. Though the woman might appear alone to onlookers, she is actually escorted by the ghost of her great-grandmother. The war on women's bodies is systematically designed to feel isolating, shameful, confusing and bleak--a series of farcical laws and regulations set in place to wear down and limit both the woman and her abortion provider. To me, this is governmental theater at it's best. I made this film because I believe the spirits of our ancestral women are urging us to go forward. To move past what little was possible for them and live out what they could not.
