Filmmaker Statement

Leora is about the difficulties and pitfalls of dealing with a depressive episode. I made this film with a few challenges in mind, the primary one being to see if an inanimate object could feel alive and dynamic and carry a film. It's also poking fun at the platitudes and ineffective treatments available for those in the dark. This was made in 2017, long before any of the A.I. we have available today, so it's been interesting to see the ways in which the film has aged. Whether or not I succeeded, I wanted the film to end on a note of hope. Depression passes, and the future is unwritten.
