Filmmaker Statement

Desire by distance is something I find to be very prevalent in modern times. Dating apps are essentially that. We desire someone based on little fragments of information behind a glass screen. Similar to this, the characters in my film watch each other only in window frames. Their relationship is grounded in control. Traditionally, voyeurism is all about control. It is about the feeling of power the voyeur gains as they watch someone unaware of being watched. I wanted to change gears with my film and show two people consensually watching each other, spurring each other's fantasies on, but never acting them out with each other. I wanted to examine what happens when our fantasies exit our minds and invade reality and I wanted to show the vast disparity between the two. Reality can never reach what we dreamt about. Eventually, we have to come to terms with what we actually have.
