Filmmaker Statement

Born from personal experiences and the desire to foster understanding, 'Livia' seeks to illuminate the complex world of mental illness, specifically dissociative identity disorder. As a filmmaker, I was drawn to the potency of Emily's struggle and the ambiguity of her reality, a narrative space where truth and illusion constantly intertwine. In my youth, I witnessed the debilitating effects of schizophrenia on my mother, a journey that has deeply influenced my work and perspective. 'Livia' is not just a psychological thriller—it's an exploration of the human psyche, an attempt to encourage empathy and understanding for those grappling with mental disorders. In an era where mental health conversations are increasingly important, I hope 'Livia' stimulates dialogue and reduces stigma. My ultimate goal is to use the medium of film to provoke thought, evoke emotion, and above all, tell stories that resonate on a deeply human level.
