Did you know that from 2012 to 2022 there was a 46% increase in knife crime in the UK? In England (2021), there were over 4,000 admissions to the hospital due to assault with a sharp object. These are just some of many other disturbing knife crime statistics recorded in the UK. A surrealist take on the issue of knife crime plaguing London’s streets (inspired by the works of Luis Bunuel and David Lynch), London’s Forgotten is a passion project that I’ve been fighting to shoot for years. The catalyst for this project was my upbringing in Tottenham. I’ve had knives pulled on me in school, I’ve witnessed gang fights where my friends would get involved and we finally moved out of the area when our neighbour’s son was tragically killed. I decided to create an unconventional loose narrative short film inspired by those events. London’s Forgotten is important to me as my goal was to highlight knife crime and gang violence in the capital with a unique story.
