While developing this script, I realised that I had a personal experience, knowing a victim of domestic child sexual abuse. I grew up in a small community where everyone knew it, even me and my friends at the age of six. We knew that the boy, a teenager we were told to avoid, was sexually abused by a family member of his. Now I realise the paradox; we were told to avoid the victim and not the perpetrator. As soon as I recalled his name I contact a friend of mine who still lives there. He told me that a couple of years ago that teenager, early forties today, took a tank full of petrol and burned the house he grew up. The theme of domestic child sexual abuse and dealing with suppressed trauma is a universal topic. Crimes against children occur in every corner of the world. Hiding them, I don’t believe is the answer.
