It all began as an exploration of the contradictory nature of the self. I felt enamored with the concept of exposing every emotive layer one can have in the span of just one day. I was in no rush to force a song on it; I felt it was too personal to settle on something that didn’t feel natural. This summer, one connection proved me right for waiting. After meeting Joe James Boyle in Berlin, I paired his song ‘Loose’, (coincidentally recorded at the same time as my film), and the combination felt destined for this art piece. The song emphasizes a melancholic uncertainty that is both beautiful and painful; a nostalgic anguish where words fall short. The film and music together are now able to capture the essence of fleeting everyday moods on both a visual and musical level. My aim with this intimate portrait of my sister is to depict an authentic sentiment about how we feel on a day-to-level; it’s about the range of feeling in all of us – and how we must embrace every minute of it.
