Man To Man is a true labour of love. The idea of an intergenerational conversation about masculinity came through workshops with young people of colour about what they would like to see on screen. One of our young 19 year old superstars Selorm Adonu wrote the film and starred in it, and we collectively made a shortlist for who we would want to play the role of Malcolm, the father. From there, I just sought to make a film that represented the type of conversation I had always wanted to have with my own father. Coming from an Asian household where emotions can often be repressed, and serious issues swept under the carpet, I wanted a film that humanised three generations of man without villainising anyone nor making any of their points of views
