Filmmaker Statement

As the writer and director of Möbius Loop, this story is personal to me. Its portrayal of dedication, and persistence, against incredible adversity stems from my own experiences. I’m passionate about this project because it not only touches on the struggle for scientific achievement and sacrifice, it weaves Palestinian cultural attributes and Arab characters into a science fiction narrative. I’ve always loved grounded science fiction and have been inspired by films like The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Primer, and Time Crimes, but throughout my life watching science fiction films, the characters never looked like the people in my family. With this film I wanted to explore a grounded science fiction story with Palestinian-American characters at the forefront. Although their ethnicity isn’t explicitly stated in the film there are several indications and Easter eggs that allude to the specificity of their ethnicity. Many of my favorite films employ intentional camera techniques
