Filmmaker Statement

This film was influenced by Cronenberg science fiction and early James Cameron films. My need for sci fi was born on a sweltering summer night on the eve of the millennium, 1999. A late night double feature of Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 sparked the spark that birthed the flame of intrigue. Since then I’ve devoured comics, novels and movies of all eras. This film was largely inspired by Primer, but seen through the lens of early 80s sci-fi like Scanners, Terminator and The Explorers. I wanted to combine dynamic elements like mixed color temperature and repeating patterns to embrace the themes surrounding technology. Centrally this is a film about ambition and how its role in monumental discovery. I designed this film to be a one-location-two-character film that could be shot in one day. This film was shot in a studio in Los Angeles, and I was lucky enough to get to work with a dedicated cast and crew of talented people.
