The best artists and storytellers are still just like children on the inside and so I guess with this story, I wanted to find a way to express that innocent wonderment for the world that we all have locked inside us somewhere still. Neglect, addiction and poverty may be the ugly reality for Kayleigh, but film is just a beautiful kind of escapism and I wanted to show this heavy subject matter through a different lens to allow people to think differently about how we view social matters such as this.
