Filmmaker Statement

My Hero comes from a fear I’ve carried for a long time: watching someone disrespect my partner and not knowing how to respond. In my head, I become the confident, cinematic man...fearless. Comedy felt like the best way to tell the truth. It lets the audience laugh at the fantasy while recognizing the insecurity underneath it. This short is my attempt to examine that impulse to protect, to perform and to prove something. I made it to laugh at the absurdity of the “hero” we imagine ourselves being.
