You can't live in Nashville today and not have an opinion on the bachelorettes. Generally speaking, locals feel the bachelorettes represent all that is wrong with the 21st century version of the city. "New Nashville" versus "Old Nashville" is how it is usually framed. It’s the preservation (or lack thereof) of what made Nashville cool, like the Ryman Auditorium and Robert’s Western World, colliding up against experiential-driven traps like the Angel’s Wings mural or any number of the new “celebrity-backed bars.” But are the bachelorettes worthy of the vilification? What is it that we're really upset about? I wanted to make this film because I felt Nashville was ripe for a deep dive into the bachelorette culture that has infiltrated this city. I wanted to speak to its proponents and detractors before hearing from the bachelorettes themselves. And I think we discovered...something. Certainly not nothing.
