I wanted to make Neo Dome because it is cool! Because women directors don't get to pitch on action films. Because I think directing big cinema IS a woman's domain. For me directing Neo Dome is a political act. I want up and coming women directors to look at that and say, "Oh that's cool. I can do that." Actress/Producer Anna Camp fought to hire a female director for this film and getting the chance to helm it was a dream come true. Neo Dome is a character driven thriller. The actors are sizing each other up and making calculations and adjustment that are nail-biting. The action and effects are motivated by character choices. I'm incredibly proud of this film. It is a 15 minute slice of what I would do on a feature. If I never get to make another big, cinematic, epic, sweeping, gorgeous film on anamorphic lenses again, I will always be proud that this one got made. Neo Dome won't get the Oscar. But I think you should watch it and ask yourself why not? Why not?
