Modern love has been corrupted by modern conveniences. I’ve always been fascinated with the concept of authenticity. Love challenges us to be our most authentic selves. The person who fakes first, fails. And yet we find it incredibly hard to be vulnerable on a first date. With social media and virtual reality entering the mix, it’s even harder than before because it’s so easy to perform to each other. To present a manicured version of our best selves. With the lines between reality and virtual reality blurring, NEXT, PLEASE explores authenticity and inauthenticity bleeding into each other as two people who consider themselves ‘real’ try to fall in love.
