I stumbled upon Deshawn's story during the Blackout Tuesday on social media in 2020. While scrolling through my Instagram feed, I was struck by a photo of him sitting on his bike, towing a lawn mower, which had been turned into a meme mocking his efforts to provide for his family. A lot of times, we see a lot of injustice, a lot of things that really affect us emotionally, and, for the most time, we can't really do anything about it, and it's frustrating. But I found a way to use the skills I have to help this guy who really deserves it." Since that video was posted DeShawn's fundraiser has surpassed its initial goal of $37,000 and reached &73,000 to help him purchase a reliable truck, new equipment and a trailer to tow it all.
