Filmmaker Statement

I sought to use generative AI to create a meta film about the filmmaking process. My intention was to tell a story THROUGH the perspective of an AI gaining sentience in realtime. How might a neural network process a prompt emotionally? I wanted to explore this process through an experience that is immersive and sensory. What does it mean to have a voice, and how might an AI, with the canvas of infinity at its disposal, process this question? While the AI's perspective begins in a place of objective neutrality - a dictionary definition - through the sharpening of its perspective, we hear its voice come to life, experiment with new styles, evolve, soar, and ultimately CRACK, before it falls on its face and returns to a place of vulnerability. And while the film opens on an image of a filmmaker at a desk, it closes on an image with them absent, with only their mess left behind. Is this the creative direction we are heading in, where our presence will no longer be needed?
