The story follows a young woman named Isla who discovers a physical passage to the land of the dead. AKA LIMBO. When her boyfriend Brandon discovers her missing, he must recruit her father-- an old delirious man with a serious drug habit. Brandon isn't sure if he can trust what he says, but he's the only person for hundreds of miles with any answers about where Isla could be. The inspiration for this series comes from classics such as The Thing, Tremors, and The X-Files. In addition, it draws heavily from many different religious and cultural mythologies worldwide to craft a uniquely terrifying setting. As filmmakers, we all have that one idea on the shelf. The one we think we'll never be able to shoot because it'll cost millions or it's just not plausible. Patrum Bay was that idea for me. Having written the story 4 years ago, I didn't think creating it would be possible until I saw WETA Digital's brilliant Meerkat short (using Unreal Engine.)
