«People on Saturday», produced by Dynamic Frame and SRF Swiss Radio and Television, is an experimental film about modern city life on a warm Saturday afternoon. The film is told in seemingly disconnected vignettes, features no dialogue and no professional actors. It was shot in an unconventional way, combining staged scenes with documentary elements. The tableau compositions are influenced by the works of Ruben Östlund, Roy Andersson and Jacques Tati. The reduced, universal film language attempts to create a narrative that is both open for interpretation and not limited to an audience of a particular country or time. It is intended as a critical, even satirical look at today’s society, stimulating reflection and triggering discussions.
