Three years ago, I resolved, like many artists, to come out of the Covid lockdown with something to show for it. "Pillow Stalk" was that project. An opportunity to teach myself as many filmmaking skills as possible. Instead, what it became was an outlet for the fear, anxiety, and downright absurdity of that time. 2020 of course feels like an eon ago. Life has been stranger, scarier, and full of more twists than a short film about a killer pillow. But three years later, I can finally say that the film is complete. My previous film, "Bakemono," utilized a full crew, professional actors, and state-of-the-art visual effects. "Pillow Stalk," on the other hand, had me, my girlfriend, and my friend making it up as we went along. It's a messy, handmade, little film, and that's why I'm so proud of it. I hope its flaws are charming and its strengths are inspiration for filmmakers to turn their anxieties into art.
