Filmmaker Statement

"Mental health is an epidemic in Australia, and it is not just a made-up thing in people's minds; mental illnesses are debilitating and life-threatening. These illnesses manifest inside the body in ugly ways which are often not seen. Thus Pinch explores something so internal, externally, through the motif and metaphor of pinching. I hope through it we can have better conversations and more honest moments with ourselves and others. I'm also proud to say that 80% of the cast and crew of Pinch are female or non-binary. This representation is important to me as a woman in this industry myself. I hope that Pinch will not only enlighten people to the health issues society is facing but also shine a spotlight on upcoming Australian talent." - Aimee Patmore (Writer, Director & Lead Actress)
