PLIMA began as an exploration of a child's relationship to her great grandmother and the land. I was eager to present this unlikely duo as they exist among a middle generation plagued by greed and self-indulgence, unable to find value in their lives beyond monetary gain. This stifling domestic environment is integral to Zora’s inner world and directly opposes the boundlessness and harmony she and Luce find by the sea. While death is never openly discussed among the family members, Zora’s new understanding of her great grandmother’s mortality ultimately fuels her decision to flee to the natural world together.
