Filmmaker Statement

In the heart of my journey lies a profound connection to water, a source of both great joy and deep sadness. Raised by parents who experienced the tragic loss of a son due to a drowning accident, I carry an overbearing sense of guilt etched into their shoulders. The haunting image of someone resting lifeless at the bottom of a pool, a river bed, or a seafloor has driven me to envision extending my hand, pulling them away from the cold darkness, back to their grieving parents. The story of Sgt. Mike, much like my own narrative, revolves around water, resonating with the emotions that have shaped my life. Having learned to dive, I embarked on a journey to tell stories that remain submerged, unheard beneath the water's surface. Sgt. Mike's work echoes my own aspirations, doing what I have often envisioned but didn't know how to realize. As I discovered the untold stories lingering beneath the water, I recognized the need to bring them to light. Mike's pursuit of truth and the psycholog
