Based on the 2013 blog post "I, We, Waluigi: a Post-Modern analysis of Waluigi", I found myself seeing many resemblances between Waluigi and generative AI. Both are a product loosely based off of their original, but enough distanced to be their own character. The film was an exploration of finding a balance between my own storytelling agency in animation and Stable Diffusion's unpredictable nature. This resulted in an experimental film leveraging both my core vision and the model's weird aesthetic, animating myself all of the scenes, while leaving the AI to "render" out the textures.
