Reminder comes from a deeply personal place. Having spent years apart from my parents, I’ve carried their presence with me through small heirlooms; a wallet from my father and a passport photo of my mother that still sits inside it today. These objects are ordinary, yet they hold extraordinary meaning; they remind me of love, memory, and heritage in the simplest of ways. That sentiment inspired Reminder. I wanted to translate the emotion of clinging to something tangible like a piece left behind by someone we miss, into a film that feels universal. By centering the story on a young Black woman and the bag passed down to her, I hoped to explore how fashion pieces can live beyond trends, becoming heirlooms that embody both absence and presence, and ultimately, love.
