Filmmaker Statement

When I was younger I believed that Art should answer the questions that science and religion cannot. That it was the responsibility of the artist to give viewers some peace to their inner turmoil's that really couldn’t be found anywhere else. I felt that some forms of Art hit you in a way that nothing else did. Somehow they understood you more than you understood them. And by enough analysis maybe you could uncover that missing piece you’ve been looking for in your own life. Eventually I realized that was bs and Art really doesn’t have any of the answers at all. It merely provides a space to ask some of the right questions. For this project I took that philosophy to heart. There were personal questions I had that I explored while making this video and I hope when you watch, some questions arise to you as well. Whether they’re the right ones, only you can tell. Fans of Satoshi Kon will also undoubtedly see my clear homages to Perfect Blue in this piece, one of my favorite films.
