Filmmaker Statement

This film is based on a live character I used to do, and I thought it would be fun to memorialize her since the trope of a weed dealer is probably going away soon (as weed becomes legalized). In a lot of my work, I like to portray lonely people (namely women) who just want to make a connection, be loved, even be liked—and their desperation to achieve that is what pushes people away. This is true of Maddie, or lead, who comes from a world where she make dozens of connections a day, but none of them feel real—and the slice of life we get is a day when she's met with a simple question that destroys her mind.
