Filmmaker Statement

Inspired by a true story of mine, where I had a spontaneous pneumothorax or a spontaneous lung collapse. It happened to me twice, but the film is a culmination of both my experiences. The film is about Cedrick, our main character, who lives out his everyday life with his family and, all of a sudden, spontaneously gets a lung collapse. We see his physical and mental journey of figuring out what was wrong with him, finding out he has a lung collapse, to going through different surgeries, all while being in a life/death setting. Ending in a slightly hopeful tone where he is physically healed but not mentally yet. The film is showing how life is short, and anything can happen, no matter how good or bad it is; as well as raising awareness to Spontaneous Pneumothorax. It isn’t as well researched but doctors have told me they know how it happens but they don’t know why. They do know it is prevalent in tall, slim young men but still isn’t as well researched.
