Creating ‘Sharing’ was a very personal experience for me as a lot of the film is loosely based on memories I have with my mother and my father, traveling between homes. I wanted to find a way to take those memories and adapt them for screen. The goal was always to communicate how it feels for a parent to be apart from their child and the complexities within those feelings. On one hand you naturally want to be with your child but you also know you need to do what is best for them. And you love them enough to do that. Whilst exploring that, I also wanted to examine how it feels for a child to go between homes and the guilt this causes. You feel sad for one parent because you're excited to see another, then you hide your excitement and feel more guilt for that. And this became the crux of the story. Screening this film has been a real privilege and I couldn’t be happier with the response. Especially from single parent households.
