Filmmaker Statement

I wanted to explore the desperation of a man driven to his ruin by his own optimism. Through dark comedy, it examines the current social issue of illegal predatory money-lending, which saw a substantial rise in Wales and the UK broadly following the Covid Pandemic and subsequent cost of living crisis. I also tapped into my own experience of detachment from my Welsh side and childhood experience of living in Spain, to explore themes of stagnation and regression to cultural pastiche.
