Filmmaker Statement

In my experience, dating is dirty. And dating over 40 is flat out filthy - and fun and forlorn and wild and funny and sexy as hell. There is something so loud to me about intimacy and middle age - the delicacy and loneliness of it when you are perfectly happy with the way you’ve turned out that is hard to put my finger on so I wanted to try. I think the film is timely with some varying threads connecting to female representation and acknowledgement that we are seeing with Barbie right now and well, female representation and sexual equanimity as a whole - where a lens into sex and intimacy doesn't have to include minors, violence, falling in love or only silliness. Uncomfortable can be sweet and fun and I believe my short captures a bit of that. It was also important to me to make a film involving sex where all the characters are consenting, not harming, and we don’t need to point out the permission or the excuses our hero needs in order for her to enjoy herself sexually.
