I wrote "Sixteenth Year" in summer of 2014. I just turned 18 and struggled with feeling unwelcomed and unloved by my friends. I also felt a little uneasy growing older and thought it would be a fun exercise to write these feelings down as if I were conversing with my older self about getting older.
