Through an unreliable timeline of events, 'Araf Ddeffro' (Slowly Waking) is a film about loneliness and a dark take on the difficulty of maintaining friendships in an ever changing world. The story is told through the perspective of a hairless creature who's hair has been singed by the burn out of a fast paced life. The creature reflects on how they have arrived at the point of complete isolation. Sara and Niamh joined forces and began to make their film during lockdown. Niamh's poems accompanied by Sara's animation encompasses the apocalyptic nature of the time. We wanted it to be in our native tongue and thought it was important to contribute to the Welsh film scene. The film is not only an ode to fellow introverts but also to any creative that has to spend long hours in a room to complete their passion projects around the jobs that get rent and bills payed!
