Filmmaker Statement

The idea for Socks and Robbers came from a music video I produced about 2 years before writing the script. The performing character in the video had a human body and sock puppet for a head. This visual juxtapostion tickled me and I thought it would make for an amusing short film. Being a fan of 90's Crime films I thought it would be fun to make a film in that genre and initially thought that the film should be a homage to the films of Quentin Tarantino and called the first draft of the script 'Reservoir Socks'. The script developed from there and became its own beast. I was really keen to create something which was purely entertaining. I'm always a sucker for a film with a twist and wanted to make sure I kept the audience on their toes at all times.
