In July 2020, amidst the uncertainties of COVID-19, I felt compelled to create "Solstice," a project that had lingered since my college days. Fueled by my own anxieties and a desire for female representation, the film unfolded swiftly, its aesthetic meticulously crafted within the confines of a motel room. Casting via Zoom proved a gamble, but essential for capturing the authenticity of teenage characters Olivia and Jacob, whose chemistry forms the heart of the narrative. The film's exploration of abortion prompted challenges, reflecting the societal taboo surrounding the topic. Titled for its symbolic significance of rebirth and reflection, "Solstice" mirrors both the pandemic era and my personal journey in bringing this story to life.
