As a director, I had just come off of the opportunity of a lifetime in shadowing the Directors and Showrunners on Season 1 of House of the Dragon for 16months as part of a Warner Bros Mentorship scheme. I gained so much theoretical knowledge around filmmaking, but I hadn't yet had the opportunity to use it. With this project/opportunity from Disney and the NFTS, I chose to break every rule and convention I'd built for myself in short filmmaking, by writing something so far out, strange and ridiculous with absolutely no idea how I would go about executing it with the resources that I had. That gave birth to SPACE PLUG, which is an absurd sci-fi set over the course of 18 years as it follows a baby human growing up in a blank white room in the middle of space with only a series of blobular beings for company. Whilst it is absurd, it's rooted in my own personal feelings of loneliness, isolation and exasperation of the world that I'm seemingly a part of. I hope you enjoy.
