Filmmaker Statement

I was inspired to write SPITE AND MALICE after rewatching some classic gangster movies. The goons in such movies are often suave and over-confident, so much so that they end up getting into trouble. I thought it would be interesting to take things in the other direction, to meet a goon so socially awkward that it's a miracle he's left the house. We've all said the wrong thing before out of awkwardness or anxiety, but not to a mobster. That would be unfortunate...
