Filmmaker Statement

Although I'm not typically one to create music videos, the music struck a chord with me. Serendipitously, I stumbled upon archival footage from Japanese marine biologist films of the 1970s. The gritty, celluloid appearance and unsteady camera movements evoked a sense of something forbidden, yet alluring. In the process, I extracted select creatures from the original film to directly incorporate into the animation. Given the story's themes of death and metamorphosis, it made perfect sense to use elements of this enigmatic footage in its most authentic form.
