Filmmaker Statement

Growing up with a single mother, I experienced a life marked by constant change. We moved across countries, towns, and homes many times. Each move a shift into a new unfamiliar world. While my mother worked tirelessly to create a sense of home wherever we landed, the rhythm of starting over again and again had a disorienting effect. These early experiences shaped not only my worldview, but also my artistic voice. I became drawn to stories of transience and characters on the margins, those forced to navigate a world not built to support them. Sunshine City continues this exploration, focusing on Max and Stellar, siblings bound by love but fractured by trauma. Their bond is tested as they seek stability in an unforgiving world. I wanted this film to be intimate and emotionally honest, a tribute to the resilience of two people facing the world together.
