Filmmaker Statement

Hello, I'm Paul Stevenson the director and cinematographer of Surfaced, an 11 minute documentary about mental health, addiction and the enriching power of the ocean as told through the personal experiences of surf photographer Nick Corkill. It's an experimental documentary short, which tackles the gritty and difficult truths about addiction. It's been an absolute privilege to work with Nick to tell his story. Hopefully this film will help stimulate honest discussions about mental health and addiction. This really is what drove Nick to want to make Surfaced.
