Filmmaker Statement

“TaiL” came to me after I had a heated conversation with friends on why women date horrible men. Is the D– so freaking good? We all know it ain’t worth it. One night, a vision came to me like an Annunciation. A big –no, it’s a regular girth– a very long penis inside a woman’s body, chaining her to a faceless man. And that’s where everything began. “TaiL” starts as a fable about breaking free from codependency but turns into a celebration of women's versatility and strength. I didn't want to tell a story on how not to be “anchored” by a man. Instead, I want to explore the bewilderment of becoming a “grown-ass woman” and the expectation that comes with it. By juxtaposing coming-of-age comedy with body horror, I seek to encapsulate the two poles of adulthood: sheer terror with moments of laughter. As a “grown-ass woman,” I have come to realize that adulthood is not necessarily about triumphing over our limitations. Instead, it’s about recognizing our imperfection and embracing the little monster inside all of us.
