Tethered

Human characters are interesting when they do not fit into the binary of good and evil. Rather than defining right and wrong, my work aims to explore a character’s point of view while navigating through difficult situations. The character makes their own decisions based on the logic of their personality. The intention is for the audience to have a complicated alliance with their protagonist. My work applies the same philosophy to antagonists. Audiences should continue to have a similar experience of anticipation and empathy for a character whose motivations are antithetical to the hero. A successful result is for moviegoers to debate and question their own ethics when faced with the film’s hypothetical dilemma. Tethered uses this storytelling approach as a poetic interpretation of a villain's backstory. From the beginning, the audience has a window into Anna's perspective.
