Told through the cinematic lens of wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn, THE BIRDS finds meaning and pathos in one of England’s little-known natural wonders. As Martin tracks the twisting movements of giant flocks of shorebirds on the Wash estuary, he attempts to literally capture evolution in action—documenting a peregrine falcon slicing through the mind-blowing murmurations, those astonishingly large groups of birds flying in synchronized, shape-shifting patterns. The film offers insight into both the hidden mechanisms of nature and the psyche of a man coming to terms with the end of his career.
