I was driven to making “The Daughter of Two Tailors” due to my mixed-race identity and the many troubles I faced growing up in a North Texas town where my peers never truly understood me. Often labeled as a “loner” throughout my school years, post-high school graduation in 2021, I went off to Temple University where I continued to feel the same loneliness that I had felt back home. By using archival footage and photographs, I aim to capture the nostalgic feel of my upbringing. In addition to using archival footage, I will use footage of empty spaces that I frequent often in an attempt to emphasize the isolation that I have felt internally throughout the years. In addition to telling my own story, my goal is to highlight the experiences that many biracial or first-generation American children may have faced, along with the feelings that they have hidden internally within themselves.
