Filmmaker Statement

This story is inspired by the relationship with my father, and in this film, I've explored the feelings of guilt that arose from trauma and how important it is to speak it out. Focusing on communication inside the family is a major theme in my films. By showing the disparity between the cultures, I wish that the film will remind us that we all just want to be seen and loved by the people who are the closest to us, and that’s what connects us together. The work on this film was inspired mostly by north-east European cinema and paintings, and we really wanted to give the film a sense a folktale essence.
