Filmmaker Statement

This film is a tribute to underdogs—those who work tirelessly behind the scenes, often unseen and unappreciated. Héctor, our protagonist, is a quiet soul who’s found his niche in the routines of a bowling alley, pouring himself into a job that rarely acknowledges his dreams. But within him, fantasy is alive. It’s his way of imagining a life beyond routine, where he can break free from the confines of anonymity and be a film noir hero for example. For Héctor, fantasy isn’t merely an escape; it’s a tool for self-empowerment. It gives him the courage to ask Magda out, to imagine himself worthy of love and recognition. This story highlights how even small, personal acts can feel monumental when they come from someone who’s spent a lifetime in the shadows. I hope to convey the quiet bravery in everyday life and to celebrate the moments of liberation that fantasy can inspire for those who dare to dream.
